CAPTAIN JIM SHARPE
Captain Jim Sharpe began fishing with his father in Miami at the age of eight. At 12 years old he guided his first fishing charter, catching and releasing his first Sailfish. During his 30 year carrier as a fire fighter and paramedic with Miami Dade Fire and Rescue Captain Jim continued his charter and commercial fishing business at Sea Boots Charters in Summerland Key. He is considered a leading authority in all types of salt water fishing from the Bahamas to the Straights of Florida.
After Captain Jim retired from the Fire Department in 1993 he formed is own Publishing company, Fisherman's Int. Publishing House and wrote and published four books, created 10 DVD's on fishing and marine mammals and a fishing calculator. In addition to his books and videos he has written more than one hundred articles for fishing magazines. Captain Jim and his family owned and operated a Pro Fly Shop, Sea Boots Outfitters on Big Pine Key for ten years. Captain Jim did a live 30 minute TV show on TCI Channel Five in Key West called Fishing in the Florida Keys for over ten years. He has been doing a weekly radio show "This Week in Fishing in the Florida Keys" since 1987 on US # 1 radio here in Big Pine Key.
